Ross started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu when he was 15 with Gracie Barra in Glasgow, and to date has achieved purple belt. Training with GB gave Ross the opportunity to really get to know and understand Jiu Jitsu, and he very quickly fell in love with the sport. With a background in competitive sports, Ross already had the drive and determination to progress, and as soon as he discovered that he could compete in Jiu Jitsu, he was hooked and knew he wanted to reach a high level and be as successful as possible. He started competing and enjoyed some early successes with a few third-place medals, and eventually with his enthusiasm for the sport he started coaching.
Ross soon progressed to leading the competition class at Gracie Barra which furthered his understanding of Jiu Jitsu technique and massively improved his knowledge and skills. After lock-down, he started training with a new club – The Griphouse – to learn from high-level grapplers and pursue Jiu Jitsu more seriously. Since moving to The Griphouse, Ross has travelled the UK competing in high-level competition and over the past 2 years has achieved 15 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. Ross is excited to bring his passion and technique to RMKB, and we’re delighted to welcome him to our team!
